Course Verification Directions

The follow video and presentation provide instructions for completing the course verification process.

Overview

Students are advised to consult the Cambridge 2026-2027 Curriculum Guide, to inform them of their course selections for the upcoming academic year. It is the responsibility of each student to thoroughly investigate and consider courses of interest.

Step 1: Academic Placement by Teachers

  • Start Date: January 26, 2026
    • Details: Teachers will make course recommendations for students, based on unweighted grades from the first semester. Students are encouraged to review the online curriculum guide to gain an understanding of which courses are most appropriate to their abilities and interests. Students should speak with their current teachers regarding academic placements for the 2026–2027 school year.

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Courses: Current teachers are responsible for submitting recommendations for AP courses. Students expressing interest in enrolling in AP courses across any subject area should consult with their respective teachers to discuss eligibility and expectations.

Step 2: Initial Course Request Verification

  • Distribution Date: January 30, 2026
    • Details: Students will receive their initial course request verification during B2, listing academic courses as recommended by their teachers. It is the student's responsibility to select 6 elective courses, ensuring they are clearly indicated on the first course request verification form. The form must be completed in its entirety, with electives and alternates specified in all designated areas. The form is due to Bridge West by 3:30pm February 4th.

All online course contracts, as well as applications for work-based learning, senior reduction and peer leadership, and exceptional mentorship positions, must be submitted by Friday, February 20 to Bridge West.  Relevant forms and applications are available in Bridge West and on the Cambridge High School website starting January 30.

  • Deadline for First Course Request Verification Form: February 4, 2026
    • Details: Students are required to return their completed course request verification form, inclusive of chosen electives and alternates, to Bridge West by February 4.

Step 3: Final Course Request Verification

  • Distribution Date: February 18, 2026
    • Details: Students will receive a final course request verification form during B2, detailing their academic courses and electives for the 2026–2027 academic year. This juncture serves as the final opportunity to request any necessary changes.

  • Deadline for Forms and Applications: February 20, 2026
    • Details: Students should only return their final course request verification to Bridge West if there are any inaccuracies with corrections and parent and student signatures. All online forms, along with applications for work-based learning, peer leadership, and exceptional mentorship roles, must be submitted to Bridge West by this date.  Dual enrollment contracts must be submitted to Bridge West by the contract deadline.

Key Considerations:

  • Course Commitment: Selections are binding for the full duration of the course, whether year-long or semester-long. Schedule changes will not be accommodated for reasons including, but not limited to, dissatisfaction with the course, preferred lunch periods, changes in personal preference, or specific teacher or class period assignments.

  • NO online classes will be added, leveling up of classes or requested elective changes will happen after February 20 for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Online and Dual Enrollment Courses: Must be taken off-campus. On-campus participation is not permitted.  Additionally, no online or Dual Enrollment courses will be added beyond the established deadlines for both fall and spring semesters of the 2026–2027 academic year.

  • Senior Reduction: Starting Fall 2026, all Cambridge seniors will take a full course load. Therefore, senior reduction will not be offered for the 26-27 school year.  This change is a district mandate which ensures students are better prepared for college and careers, expands access to AP, dual enrollment, and high-interest skill based elective options, and strengthens funding for teaching and student services.

  • Dual Enrollment Facilitation: The counseling office will oversee all dual enrollment courses.
