📘 What Are AP Exams?
Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are standardized tests administered by the College Board each May. They allow students to demonstrate college-level mastery in various subjects and potentially earn college credit or advanced placement.
📅 Key Dates for 2025 AP Exams
- Regular Testing Window: May 5–9 and May 12–16, 2025
- Late Testing (by approval): May 19–23, 2025
- Registration Deadline (No Late Fee): November 5, 2024
- Late Registration Deadline: February 28, 2025 (+$10 fee)
- Final Registration Deadline: March 1, 2025 (+$40 fee)
📝 How to Register for AP Exams
All students must register through MyAP.Collegeboard using a course-specific join code. Your registration must be confirmed by Dr. Harrell.
🔑 How to Get Your Join Code
- In-Person Students: Ask your AP teacher for the join code.
- FVS Students: Contact your FVS teacher for the Cambridge Exam-Only Code.
- GAVS Students: Reference the email sent on September 9, 2025, for your course-specific code. If you cannot locate the email or have questions, contact Dr. Harrell at harrellj@fultonschools.org.
After registering, GAVS students must email Dr. Harrell (harrellj@fultonschools.org) and CC a parent/guardian to confirm registration or opt out.
💵 Exam Fees
- Standard Exam Fee: No fee for FCS students enrolled at CHS who register before due date.
- Late Registration Fee: +$40 (after November 5)
- Unused/Canceled Exam Fee: $40
- Fee Reductions: Eligible students may receive a discount. Additional state or district aid may apply—contact Dr. Harrell for details.
📦 Exam Day Essentials
Bring:
- Photo ID
- College Board AP Student Pack
- #2 pencils and black/blue pens
- Approved calculator (if applicable)
- Water/snacks for breaks
Do NOT Bring:
- Phones, smartwatches, or electronic devices
- Books or notes
- Unauthorized calculators – Review College Board Website for details
📊 Score Release & Reporting
- Scores Available: July 8–10, 2025 via MyAP.Collegeboard
- Score Range: 1 (No recommendation) to 5 (Extremely well qualified)
- Sending Scores: One free score send available if selected by June. Additional sends require a fee.

Q: What is a join code?
A: A unique code used to register for the AP exam in MyAP.Collegeboard. It does not enroll you in the course.
Q: What if I don’t see my course listed?
A: Contact Dr. Harrell immediately.
Q: Can I change my mind after registering?
A: You must confirm or opt out by the deadline. Changes after that may incur fees.

AP Exam Registration
Registration for Cambridge Students
Cambridge High School will automatically register all students enrolled in AP courses for their AP exams. If a student does not plan to take an AP exam, they must email Dr. Harrell at harrellj@fultonschools.org by November 5 to opt out. Students who do not opt out will be registered. If they do not take the exam, they will be charged the $99 exam fee.
GAVS and FVS Students – AP Exam Registration Process
Students enrolled in Georgia Virtual School (GAVS) or Fulton Virtual School (FVS) AP courses must follow a two-step process to register for AP exams.
Steps to join the EXAM ONLY Course in My AP (Different than you GAVS or FVS Course)
- Use the join code provided by
- GAVS – Email sent by Cambridge High School noreply@fultonschools.org on September 9, 2025 (attached table with codes)
- FVS - Your online instructor has the CHS Exam only code
- https://myap.collegeboard.org/login.
- Register for the “Exam Only” section.
- Once joined, confirm your registration for the exam by emailing harrellj@fultonschools.org with the confirmation of EXAM ONLY registration
Deadline: All GAVS/FVS/Independent Study students must complete both steps was no later than October 24, 2025 – if you missed this deadline you will have until November 5.
