Ideas for Spending SGC Funds: CHS SGC has $46,391 to spend for the 24-25 school year.  Some spending ideas discussed are…

• Teacher mini-grants: see what grant requests are left after PTSA awards funds
• Classroom furniture
• Color printers for departments: CHS already has a plan for paying for color printing
• Employee awards
• PBIS student awards
• Things to improve instruction: poll teachers for specific ideas
• Multilingual signage for halls
• CHS Holiday Extravaganza: scheduled for 12/3/24

SGC Onboarding: New members were reminded to complete the onboarding trainings.

Volunteers for SGC Cross-Council Meetings: Jeremy Fulk volunteered to attend as the CHS representative.

Community/Student SGC Members: Principal Agans stated that she is struggling to fill the remaining community and student spots on the 24-25 SGC.  Existing members were asked to email her names of potential candidates.

Strategic Plan Update & Vote to Approve: Principal Agans reviewed the Strategic Plan Goals being selected by CHS for the 24-25 school year and addressed questions from the council.  SGC then voted to approve the CHS 24-25 Strategic Plan.  First given by R. Westlake and second given by J. Fulk. No opposed. Plan approved. 

Ideas for Spending SGC Funds: CHS SGC has $46,391 to spend for the 24-25 school year.  Some spending ideas discussed are… 

• Classroom furniture upgrades- discussed as priority item for funding by SGC 

• Additional security cameras- discussed as priority item for funding by SGC, Principal Agans will follow-up on cost of adding five cameras 

• Staff/student incentives

Staff Update:  Teachers are finding that fewer students are skipping and do not have issues with the doorbells on the back student parking lot. 

Principal Update: Principal Agans discussed the new SmartPass system and why physical passes are sometimes still needed. Data shows that fewer students are leaving classes during class times since SmartPass was implemented. She also shared updates on upcoming events such as Holiday Extravaganza, Elective Fair and Truck or Treat. 

Discussion of SGC Funds: The group reviewed options for spending SGC funds.  Principal Agans explained that the vape detectors she looked into putting in student restrooms do not seem to be worth the expense based on feedback from schools already using them. The group landed on voting to fund 10 sets of TI Inspire calculators and 20 sets of TI 30 calculators for CHS math classrooms. The group also decided to vote on funding new furniture for the CHS Media Center, 1 additional hall security camera and to add any remaining SGC funds to the pot being used to fund updated classroom furniture. 

Vote On Spending SGC Funds: The vote to spend the 24-25 SGC funds on the items listed above was given a first by D. Gerber.  Second was given by L. Pieterse.  No opposed. Allocation of funds was approved.

Staff Update:  Staff are working to wrap up end of Fall semester and contact students/families regarding grades in danger of failing.

Principal Update: Principal Agans summarized the upcoming sports playoff games. Senior Privilege continues successfully. Junior Privilege opens Spring semester. Agans is considering paying a staff member to host after school recovery sessions, so students have set times to take missing assessments prior to the close of semester.  CHS Strategic Plan has been approved by Area Superintendent and is waiting for School Board approval.

Discussion of SGC Funds: FCS will pay for additional hall camera, so SGC has $10,000 left to spend for the 24-25 school year. Proposed options:

• PBIS= $12,000 
  • Includes request for rolling store/cart
  • SGC proposed giving $4,000 to PBIS tickets and student prizes§ 
    • Vote called, first given by A. Dunn, second given by L. Rush, no opposed. Vote approved.
• Final discussion of remaining funds will be at December meeting when Agans will present funding ideas for updating Ag Building and CHS farm.

SGC Funds:  Council discussed spending remaining SGC funds ($12,036.30) on classroom furniture, PBIS rolling cart, and teacher appreciation gifts. Landed on splitting funds between PBIS cart ($6,036.30) and teacher appreciation gifts ($6,000). Vote was called by M. Ginn and seconded by M. Veneziano.  No opposed.  Spending of funds was approved. 

Principal Update: Principal Agans summarized the CHS Fall/Spring online class funds allocation and actual semester costs. CHS is over budget with online classes.  FCS will not let CHS limit the number of online classes students can take next year. 

Staff Update: Fran Meredith provided process update for the first round of verification sheets for creating 25-26 class schedules.  

Upcoming SGC Elections: M. Ginn will roll off, opening 1 parent election spot.  A. Dunn will roll off, opening 1 teacher election spot.  SGC members were asked to encourage friends/neighbors to run for these open seats.

Approval of Agenda: Motion called by R. Westlake and seconded by A. Dunn. No opposed.  Agenda was approved.

Approval of January Meeting Minutes: Motion called by R. Westlake and seconded by A. Dunn.  No opposed.  Minutes were approved.

SGC Retreat:  Council discussed the upcoming county SGC retreat and who will attend from the CHS council. Jeremey Fulk and Laury Rush volunteered.

25-26 Budget: Principal Agans explained the CHS School Wide Plan. She then discussed her plans for the 25-26 school budget. 97% of the budget is allocated to personnel. Principal Agans answered questions from the Council, and then the Council voted to approve the budget.  Motion called by R. Westlake and seconded by M. Ginn. No opposed. Budget was approved.

Principal Update: Principal Agans discussed the recent “Assassins” game issue that happened on campus.

Staff Update: Fran Meredith provided process update for the final round of verification sheets for creating 25-26 class schedules.

Student Success Skills Lessons Update: Students will be added to future SSS committee meetings to gain their input. No Place for Hate club is being added at CHS. SSS lessons are aimed at improving empathy, communication, and interpersonal skills throughout the school.

Principal Update: Principal Agans updated the group on end-of-year activities, graduation and testing. She gave an overview of CHS sports teams that made Spring playoffs.  

Staff Update: Staff discussed end-of-year testing and the recent visit from the Japanese exchange students.

Student Update: Student SGC members were not present at meeting so this item was skipped.

SGC Update: End-of-year survey links were provided to group for completion via email. SGC funds for the year have been spent. PBIS cart, purchased with SGC funds, has arrived and prizes have been ordered. New SGC members will be announced after county run-off elections. Once new members are announced a Teams meeting will be scheduled to thank members who are rolling off (Fran Meredith, Lina Pieterse, Meredith Ginn, Allison Dunn, M. Holman, K. Kassay) and welcome new members. At this meeting, the date will be set for the first SGC meeting of the 25-26 school year.

Open Discussion: CHS student enrollment numbers were discussed.
