Parent/Guardian Attendance Quick Guide

Parent/Guardian Attendance Quick Guide

Situation What parent/student should do Timeline/rule

Full-day absence

Parent/guardian/student submits a signed written note. Include student name, date(s), reason, parent/guardian name, and contact number. Student contacts teachers about missed work.

Within 5 school days of the student's return.

Late arrival / check-in

Student reports to the Attendance Office kiosk before going to class. Appointment documentation should be provided when applicable.

Upon arrival. If the student does not check in, the absence may remain in the system.

Planned checkout

Parent/guardian submits the CHS planned checkout form on the attendance webpage. Student follows the official checkout process at the assigned time.

Morning of the checkout, before the school day begins whenever possible.

Unplanned checkout

Parent/guardian reports to Bridge East with photo ID. Only approved contacts listed in Infinite Campus may check out a student.

Cannot be processed by phone. Avoid lunch periods because students may not be reachable.

Clinic checkout

Student who becomes ill during school should report to the clinic. Clinic staff contacts the parent/guardian and provides checkout direction.

Use the clinic process for illness during the school day so the absence can be documented appropriately.

Pre-approved absence /Participating remotely

Student emails all teachers - copies parent/guardian and student’s administrator - obtains teacher signatures and submits the complete form. Student is responsible for missed work and assessment planning - confirms no summative assessment conflict, and completes assigned work within 2 days.

Up to 5 days per semester / 10 per year.  Remote is not available outside the country or on summative assessment days.
