Dear Bears and Bear Families,

What an AMAZING first day!  We hope you got the traditional (and for some of you last) first day of school picture.  Thank you to our Cambridge PTSO for a fun car painting senior event last night and a yummy and wonderful Senior Sunrise Breakfast this morning – Waffle House is ALWAYS a hit!  Seniors, don’t forget to order your grad package and pay your senior PTSO fee to keep these senior experiences coming!  Reminder, if you haven’t joined PTSO yet, it’s not too late!  They do more than just senior events and need everyone’s help to continue their work supporting classrooms, students, teachers, and our community. 

So, it’s day one, and we gave grace on parking.  Starting tomorrow, students parked in a spot without a sticker or in someone else’s spot will receive discipline.  We want to start there instead of going automatically to tow cars.  If you are a senior and you have not applied, you have until August 14^th at 3:30pm to apply for a spot. 

Juniors, right now, should not be parking on campus at all.  Juniors who are eligible for the parking lottery received an email in their FCS student email account this afternoon.  In that email is information on how to apply for parking.  Applications for eligible juniors closes at 3:30pm on Friday, August 14th.  After that deadline (Friday, August 14^th after 3:30pm), we will run a lottery for those juniors who were eligible and successfully applied.  Reminder that the application must be complete with evidence of drivers license and current insurance.  Those who do not have a complete application will not be eligible for the lottery.

Once again, here is our schedule for this week.  Reminder that we will, once again, have B² first on Wednesday to give out picture cards.  Everyone in the building will be getting their picture done, including seniors, so that we can distribute IDs.  After Wednesday, everyone should have their ID and lanyard and wear it on campus at all times.  Thank you for supporting this security measure.   

Immunization and Verification requirements:  9^th and 10^th grade students are required to complete the Residency Verification process.  11th grade students are required to provide evidence of having received the Meningitis vaccine.  More information on forms and requirements can be found here.  If you have not already turned in this required form/information, the forms were due today.  Please get in ASAP.  Families who do not turn these forms in may face withdrawal from Cambridge.

95 to Thrive First Week Attendance Incentives:  Tickets went out today and will go out every day this week!  Remind your student to drop off the raffle ticket into the buckets during lunch.  There will be drawings for great prizes like gift cards to Starbucks, Door Dash, AMC Theatres, and Jersey Mikes.  Will also have other prizes like 2 tickets to the SCAD Fashion Show!  So, be present Bears and win!

Updated information on Schedules:

Students with Schedule Corrections: Present to Aug. 4th

• August 3rd and 4th if a student has “See Counselor” on their schedule, they are to report to the media center to speak with their counselor during the period this is listed. 
• “See Counselor” means there is a hole in their schedule, or a scheduling issue needs to be discussed with your student’s counselor.

Phase 1: Students with Schedule Changes: Aug. 5th – Aug. 7th

• The process for scheduling change requests can be found on our website.

• Students who would like to request a leveling down scheduling change are to download the form from the CHS website, fill it out, and turn the form in via hardcopy (no emails accepted) to Bridge West by Aug. 7th.  No electronic copies of the scheduling change request form will be accepted.

• Counselors will be processing schedule change request forms Aug. 5th-Aug. 14th. 
  • Schedule change requests are not guaranteed. 
  • Online and Fall Dual Enrollment classes will not be added.
  • Parent/Guardian signature is required.
• Please note schedules will NOT be changed for the following reasons:
  • Request for a specific lunch period.
  • Request for a specific class period.
  • Request to have or not have a specific teacher.
  • Request to have a class with friends.
  • Move into an online or Fall Dual Enrollment class.
  • No leveling up (On level to Honors or On level or Honors to AP).

There will be no schedule change requests after Aug. 7th.  This includes dropping a Fall Dual Enrollment class.

Dual Enrollment and Virtual Classes:

• No changes after August 7th
• No online or DE classes will be added.
• No students are on campus for any online and/or DE classes.
• August 3rd and 4th if a student has “See Counselor” on their schedule, they are to report to the media center to speak with their counselor during the period this is listed.  Otherwise, students are to remain off campus for these classes.

Finally, Safety Drills:  One more reminder that the state requires multiple safety drills in the first two weeks of school.  We will do two evacuation drills, a severe weather drill, and intruder drills which include a soft and hard lockdown of the building.  These are drills.  In the case of a real event, communication would be sent to you from Cambridge and/or Fulton County Schools.  Just wanted you to be aware that these drills will be occurring in the first two weeks of school.

Again, what an amazing first day!  The afternoon carpool lane was done by 3:50pm and buses were out by 3:40pm!  That is a banner first for transportation on the first day of school.  Thank you to everyone for being patient, being kind, and making sure our Bears got to school and back home safely.  If today is any indication, it’s going to be a great year.  Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!  Be safe.  Be the BRIDGE.  GO BEARS!

Bears, we cannot wait to see you tomorrow! Here are a few reminders from Friday's email to help you on Day 1:

Carpool, Senior Parking, and Bus Info:

For carpool families, it is going to be hectic.  Luckily Kings Ridge does not start back until next week, but please be patient and watch out for students who might be walking to campus.  Be prepared for delays.  Here is the link to the carpool traffic flows.  Reminder you cannot drop off students in the back bus lanes or in the back parking lot.  You also cannot pick up students in the back lot.  We will have officers to direct traffic (so long as they are not called to an emergency).  Please follow their directions and be kind to everyone.  We will all be anxious to get to campus. 

For our seniors who have parking on campus, PLEASE be careful driving to campus and driving in the parking lot.  Once you park (in your assigned space), please walk to the sidewalk along the fence and use crosswalks to get onto campus.  Watch for buses and other cars entering and exiting the parking lot.  The most important thing is your safety. 

For our bus riders, here is the link to the FCS transportation page with bus route and information to download the “Here Comes the Bus” app.  Please look up your bus number and info for your pickup and arrival times.  Parents and students, please make sure you have a screen shot of your bus information.  In the afternoon, we will have signs up that tell students the location of their bus number in the bus lanes.  If they have the screen shot, it will be faster to find their bus number and the correct bus lane for departure.  Students, we will have plenty of staff in the back to help you.  So, find an adult if you are unsure where to go.  We are here to help!

Dear Bears and Bear Families,

Monday is DAY 1 of the 2026 – 2027 school year!  We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to the building and into a new year of learning.  Here is the information you need to know for tomorrow:

Carpool, Senior Parking, and Bus Info:

1^st Week:

Here is the link for the bell schedule.  B² will be first on Monday (to ensure everyone has what they need to start the day) and on Wednesday (so everyone can get their Picture Cards).  Students who take morning virtual or dual enrollment classes are allowed to stay on campus in the Media Center on these two days so that they may be in B².

During the first week we will have class meetings, distribute devices, and share information on expectations and procedures at Cambridge. 

Also, during the first two weeks of school, we will have state-mandated drills (soft and hard lockdown drills, evacuation drills, and an inclement weather drill).  These are required by the state and our safety team.

Senior PTSO events:

Sunday, August 2^nd from 4 – 6pm, be in the Senior Lot for Car Decorating!  Join in this first day of school senior year tradition!

Also, Class of 2027, be at the AUX gym at 7:45am on Monday, August 3^rd for Senior Sunrise Breakfast and fun!  Our PTSO has an amazing breakfast planned and will also have senior t-shirts ready for pickup! 

If you have not done so yet, please make sure you purchase your grad package (cap, gown, diploma cover, venue fee, programs, senior dinner) and your PTSO senior fee (events like the ones they are hosting Sunday and Monday as well as senior treats, senior picnic, and other great gifts and prizes!) from 3^rd Ascent.

Changes for Drop Off of Food or Items for Students:

This year, Cambridge will be following the same procedure of the other high schools in our Zone by requiring parents to come into the building to drop off items for students during the school day.  Parents will need to park in a visitor’s spot, come to the doorbell and show ID as well as identify themselves, the student they are supporting, and what they are dropping off.  Parents will be buzzed in and there are shelves inside the door for the materials to be dropped off.  Parents will then exit the building. 

Items that may be dropped off to students:

• Books or classroom materials
• Athletic or Music equipment/instruments
• Food (must be in a sealed bag or lunch bag)

Items that are not allowed for drop off:

• Drinks of any kind, including shakes, smoothies, or coffees
• Balloons

This procedure outlined above will also be in place if you pick up a form from the front office.  The usual box will now be inside the doors instead of outside the front doors.  Parents may get buzzed in, get their envelope from the box on the shelf, and exit the building.

The change is a safety measure to curb strangers or unauthorized people from approaching campus or students.  As always, Uber Eats, Door Dash, and/or deliveries by outside vendors are not allowed.  These deliveries will be turned away at the door.  We are asking that drinks not be dropped off as they may leak, spill, or spoil.  Drinks are available for purchase during lunches, at vending machines throughout the building and students may carry personal water bottles with them during the school day.

Cambridge Compass:

Instead of Parent and Student Handbooks, we have created the new Cambridge Compass as part of our website.  This will help students, parents, and teachers and staff to navigate and find information on everything at Cambridge from grading to attendance policies to calendars and FCS links.  This should be a “one stop shop” for all you need to know.  Please bookmark this page of our site for regular use.

95% to Thrive First Week Attendance Incentives:

Fulton County Schools recognizes the importance of attendance to student achievement.  It is so important to start the year with strong!  To encourage every student to be present in the first 5 days of school, everyday students who are present will receive a ticket that can be used towards a drawing for great prizes like gift cards to Starbucks, Door Dash, AMC Theatres, and Jersey Mikes!  Will also have other prizes like 2 tickets to the SCAD Fashion Show!  The 95% to Thrive flyer is on our Back to School page for more information.  So, Bears, be present and win! 

Junior Parking:

We will send information to juniors who qualify for parking (good attendance, behavior, and on track for graduation at the end of last year) in the 1^st week.  We will open up junior lottery for those students in week 2 of school.  More information to come next week.

Senior Privilege:

Senior privilege to go off campus during lunch (only during lunch) is earned through attendance, behavior, and being on track for graduation.  Seniors will get a sticker to wear on their IDs if they earn the privilege in week 2.

Student IDs:

All students, including seniors, will have their pictures taken on Wednesday, 8/5, and will get their ID from the photographer.  Lanyards will be given out by their teacher.  Once students receive their lanyard and ID on August 5^th, they are required to wear their ID on their person whenever they are on campus.  This is a safety measure as all staff, students, and visitors are required to wear lanyards with IDs to identify that they are allowed to be in our building.  Students who fail to wear their ID could receive discipline consequences.  Replacement IDs can be bought in the front office for $10 if a student loses their ID.  Parents, please regularly check that their students have their IDs and are wearing them before heading out to school.

This is still available if you need it.  Back to School can be overwhelming for students and for parents, so here is a handy checklist with everything you need to ensure it is all done.

Schedule Info:

Schedules are “live” in Infinite Campus.  Please know that there are still changes happening behind the scenes to “level” classes and fix schedules that are incomplete.  For full information, please visit this link for everything schedule related.

• Students with a “See Counselor” on their schedule should report to the Media Center during that period on Day 1.
• Students who need to level down (AP to Honors or Honors to on level) may request a schedule change with the form on our website.
• There will be no schedule change requests after August 7^th; this includes dropping a dual enrollment class.
• No online classes will be added at this time.
