Questions and Answers

Is Common Market for public schools only?

Regional schools get to decide to participate or not so the Common Market list of members frequently changes.  Check out Academic Common Market - Southern Regional Education Board for this year’s participating schools.

What is the process of requesting an official transcript?

If the school specifically requires a letter of recommendation from the counselor, as opposed to the teacher, will that be made clear in Common App?

Yes- Common App clearly lists what is required for each school

Can you please provide the link to the Common App website?

Apply to college with Common App

What should we assume for timing on transcripts being uploaded to colleges?

Counselors upload an initial transcript after 9/15.  We upload a midyear in January and a final transcript in June.  We ask for a minimum of 10 school days to process requests for transcripts and rec letters.

Can we email the Senior Bio Sheet to the counselors, or do you want hard copies?

You can email us the Senior Bio Sheet or drop off a hard copy in Bridge West/Counseling.

For the Spring semester classes, should we list them as “in progress” for the colleges that ask for the list of Dual Enrollment classes?

You can list them as "in progress” or “proposed”.

Do all seniors already have a Gafutures account, or do they need to create one?

Each student must create their own account at gafutures.org. Many students created their own account during Junior year.

Can parents and students meet with the school counselor together? Should we reach out via email to schedule this?

Yes- please email your school counselor to schedule a meeting.

Do DE class grades affect HOPE GPA.

Yes.  They also impact CHS numeric average.

Do we have a date for graduation?

Not yet. We typically receive confirmation of the graduation date from Ameris Bank Amphitheater in February. Once the date is finalized, we will share it with senior families as soon as possible.

If students are applying to Georgia Match colleges, should they use GAfutures or Common App?

Please refer to application directions provided in the Match letter.

If students have not completed their DE classes by the college application deadline, will semester grades be shared with colleges later?

Yes.  Counselors will upload a midyear transcript in January and a final transcript in June.
