Principal Agans Recaps Class of 2024 Accomplishments

I want to acknowledge some of what you have accomplished over the last four years at Cambridge.  This is not an exhaustive list, but it is a list that indicates your commitment and love of academics, arts, and athletics at Cambridge.  All of these acknowledgements were submitted by coaches, sponsors, and directors; these groups are in no particular order… 

Boys Golf team  

  • Back-to-Back Area Champs 
  • Runner up in State in ‘22 
  • State Champs ‘23 (Hopefully they will be back-to-back but do not know until next week!) 

Skills USA 

The Cambridge High School SkillsUSA Chapter has had an amazing past four years. Our graduating Seniors have contributed to making our schools chapter the best in the state of Georgia. Cambridge SkillsUSA Chapter has been the largest school chapter in Georgia for the past 4 years. Our SkillsUSA members have dominated our State Leadership conference with most medals awarded for 3 consecutive years and have won 5 National medals during this same time period. This year's graduating seniors were an integral part of this success. Many of these seniors were part of our leadership team and have helped guide their members in the success of this organization. Thank you to all the graduating seniors and we wish you the best of luck as you begin your college years… 

Softball team 

  • 3 Straight trips to the State Tournament with Elite 8 status 
  • Region Champs 2022 
  • Averaged 22 Wins a season! 

Girls Basketball Team 

These seniors have been to 4 state playoff appearances, including one Sweet 16 appearance.  They played in the region championship last year.  In addition, these seniors were: 

  • Sunshine State Classic Champions 2022 
  • Roswell Rotary Honor Air Invitational Champions 2022 

Solid team and so proud of their work! 

Boys Basketball team 

The seniors help deliver and spread over 10,000 bags of mulch through our Mulch Madness fundraiser to the Cambridge community in an effort to teach life/business lessons, hard work, sacrifice and unite the boys basketball program with the community.  

The seniors read to over 300 elementary school students in the Cambridge community in an effort to promote Cambridge High School, the importance of reading and to make a connection with future Cambridge students.  

The seniors obtained over 30 local business sponsorships to connect the Cambridge boys basketball program with the local small businesses of the Cambridge community.  

The seniors made connections with over 350 middle school and elementary school students in the Cambridge community through our basketball summer camps and basketball seasonal clinics.   

The seniors attended at least one event/competition/game for every respective Cambridge High School athletic team/program.  

TSA 

Over the past 4 years, TSA Electric Vehicle seniors have won the State Championship in Electric Vehicle-Lead Acid class, placed 2nd in the EV Rally at Jekyll Island, and placed 2nd this year at the State Championships in Electric Vehicle- Advanced Battery class after major setbacks (as you know).  The VEX Robotics team placed 1st in the State two straight years in the Robotics Rover competition at Tech Day at the Georgia National Fair and the alternative energy flight team placed in the top 10 for two straight years and 2nd in CO2 Dragster Design, as well.  2nd Place in the State Championships last year and top 10 this year in Transportation Modeling.  The seniors collected literally thousands of pounds of food for North Fulton Charities Food Bank during the Holidays and mentored upcoming TSA student members into a strong team entering next year's competitions.   

Cross Country

  • Over the last four years: 
  • Boys won the state championship along with one region championship and two runners up.  
  • Girls had a state runner up along with a region championship and a region runner up. Also in this class was our first individual state champion, Sanam Rangaraj! 

Women in STEM  

Women in STEM has encouraged service and leadership within the Cambridge STEM community. Women in STEM has held six successful stem expositions this past year to spread STEM awareness and education within our community and specifically to younger students! They held 2 learning labs at the Alpharetta Library, and led various experiments such as: Strawberry DNA extraction, Aluminum Barge, Lava lamps, Paper Chromatography, Rube Goldberg Machines, Balloon Lung, and more at Alpharetta, Manning Oaks, Summit Hill, and Creekview Elementary schools!  

Swim/Dive Team 

  • Three-time State Runner Up 
  • One time state Third Place 
  • 13 new school records were set 
  • Three-time girls Fulton County Champions 

Mock Trial  

Over the past 4 years they weathered a pivot to online competition in their first year followed by another year of figuring out the mechanics of online competition.  They’ve made it through regional and district competitions, all the way to the semifinals of the state tournament for the past two years, earning 3rd place both years.  They’ve won the professionalism award at state finals and many individual attorney and witness awards at all levels. 

Varsity Boys Tennis  

  • These are the accomplishments of the tennis program as a whole:

Girls Tennis Team 

Girls Tennis in the last four years has won one state title, one state runner up, one state semi-final appearance, and one quarterfinal appearance.  AMAZING four years! 

Art program 

This graduating class is the winningest group of Art students in the history of Cambridge. We've beat Alpharetta and Milton while being the top high school in Fulton County accepted to the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition. And overall, seniors won 3 gold keys, 2 silver keys, and 6 honorable mentions at the Georgia Region of Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.  

Wrestling Team 

Happy to announce the following individual accomplishments: 

  • Will Thomas wrestling 2-Time Region Champion 130 wins 
  • Gabe Chigwere Region Champion 
  • Drew Dibiase 1-year lettermen 
  • Luke Kim 2- year letterman 
  • Dylan McElheny  4-year wrestler 2-year letterman 

Reading Bowl Team 

Cambridge Reading Bowl Team won the Fulton County Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Competition and placed just out of the top 3 at the Metro Regional. This was the best showing in several years!  

Competition Cheer  

  • Freshman year- Region Runner-Up, 3rd place at state finals 
  • Sophomore year- Region Runner-Up, 4th place at state finals 
  • Junior year- Region Champions, 6th place at state finals 
  • Senior year- Region Champions, State Runner-Up 2nd place at state finals  

World Language Class  

  • 12 students - International Skills Diploma Seal 
  • 17 students - Seal of Biliteracy 
  • 296 students - WL Pathway completion 

Football team 

Over the last four years, these players have been to the state tournament all four years; in junior year they were region champions – the first Football Region Championship in school history.  

One Act Play 

  • GHSA 2023 One Act Play State Champions –  
  • Ben Terry (Class of 2024) recognized as Best Actor in 5A (I know it’s an individual, but a pretty good individual – feel free to omit).   

FBLA 

This graduating class of Future Business Leaders has clocked over 3500 hours in Community Service, completed at least (1) 3-year Career Tech Pathway, earned top 5 in over 30 competitive events at State and National conferences and has a 3-year run of winning Gold Chapter status. 

Girls Soccer  

  • 2022, 2023, 2024 – Region Champions 
  • 2021, 2022, 2024 – State Finalists/Runner-up 
  • 2023 – State Quarterfinalists/Elite 8 

Baseball Program 

These seniors have made it to the State Tournament all four years. 

Orchestra  

Seniors won first place at the OrlandoFest competition in March. 

Science National Honor Society 

Science National Honor Society members participated in STEM Nights at local elementary schools throughout the year, celebrated Cambridge Science Day in the fall- with a periodic table of cupcakes for all teachers and staff, organized and ran fun science- themed  stations at our first Winter Extravaganza, celebrated Science Teacher Appreciation week, and tutored several students and helped them with their science classes throughout the year.  

French National Honor Society 

  • French Honor Society & French students have raised $1,800 for a school in Haiti. They have purchased 4 goats for the school, given hundreds of dry erase markers and flashdrives.   
  • Cambridge students have engaged in 350 conversations over Zoom to help Haitians improve their English. 
  • In the past 4 years... 
  • 48 Cambridge students have participated in the Cambridge French Exchange by living with a French family for 10 days. 
  • About 100 families have participated in the Cambridge French exchange by hosting French students in their homes. 
  • 20 French students have earned superior or excellent awards at Fulton County spoken language competition 

Gymnastics Team 

  • All 4 years team has progressed to state preliminary meet 
  • 2021 – 3rd in state 
  • 2023 – 5th in state, 2 individual winners 
  • 2024 – 4th in state 

HOSA 

Despite not having a Health Career pathway, we have maintained a competitive club, competing in state leadership conference with state winners (top 3) progressing to ILC (international competition)in both 2022 and 2024 

Marching Band 

  • ~3 - time finalist for Western Carolina University Tournament of Champions  
  • ~As Juniors - 1st ever school participation in Bands of America Regional competition in Orlando, FL (2022) 
  • ~2023 Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional Class 2A 2nd place winner 
  • ~Historical appearance as a 2023 Bands of America Regional Finalist at the 2023 Mid-Atlantic Competition. 

Concert Band 

  • ~3 consecutive years of straight superior ratings in LGPE. 
  • ~Given the 2023 Exemplary Performance Award by Georgia Music Educators association. An award given to band programs that showcase the highest level of performance in concert band, jazz band, marching band, and solo and ensemble performance. A distinction given to only 6 Georgia music programs in the state for the 2023-24 school year. 
  • ~Selected out of 63 submissions to perform for the first time in school history at the 2024 GMEA In-Service Conference  
  • -Selected to perform at the 2024 Music For All Southeast Regional Concert Band Festival 

Winterguard 

  • ~Performed as a finalist for the first time in school history as a Winterguard International Regional Finalist 
  • ~2023 SAPA Regional A Class Silver Medalist 
  • ~National A class champion at the Harrison SAPA competition  
  • ~2 WGI Regional Finalist 
  • ~Ranked 56 in the nation at the completion of the 2024 season 

Indoor Drumline 

  • ~A part of the inaugural season of the Cambridge Indoor Drumline as sophomore. 
  • ~2 consecutive winning 5th place in the state for GIPA A Class percussion. 

Jazz Band 

  • ~Traveled over 5,000 miles participating in the Mingus Jazz Fest in New York City, the Regional Essentially Ellington Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, and workshopped in New Orleans, LA 
  • ~The seniors in the band program have collectively traveled 9,841 miles, visited 8 different states, and participated in over 200 concerts, events, and competitions! 

DECA

 Bear Ambassadors  

“I would like to recognize the 11 Senior Bear Ambassadors.  Throughout the school year, you have assisted 40 new Cambridge students in feeling welcome on their first day at our school by taking them to their classes, eating lunch with them, and in some cases, sharing your cell number if they needed to ask you any questions.  Some of your have been doing this since you were sophomores!  Thank you for taking the time to ensure these students feel a part of the Cambridge Bear family on Day One.” 

Girls Lacrosse team 

  • 2024 State Champions – First in school history 
  • 2023 Final Four appearance

I know this isn’t everything our seniors have done over the last four years…there isn’t enough time to hit everything, but I wanted them to know how proud we are for your time with us.  You have made us proud in Academics, the Arts, and Athletics.  You ARE the BRIDGE to a new era at Cambridge.  THANK YOU for your contributions to our school and community.  Be safe.  Be the BRIDGE.  GO BEARS!
